Concert series theme | Programme | Posters
Background
The world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra asked Anonymous Design to create a concept and supporting designs to promote their annual, three season performance schedule. The brief was to embody their strapline ‘The LSO is Living Music’ across their advertising, primarily the key, six-page A5 seasonal concert programme, as well as posters to be displayed throughout the Barbican Centre.
Outcome
The idea was for the elegant forms of orchestral instruments to transform into natural, living objects with similar characteristics, with the first being a trumpet that becomes a Calla lilly. The folding format of the six-page programme was a perfect opportunity to bring the transformation concept to life… with the image of the musical instrument on the roll-fold page closing across the organic object on the inside spread underneath.

Shell LSO Music Scholarship

Background
After the success of the concert series project, Anonymous were asked to produce the concept and promotional literature for the LSO’s annual Music Scholarship programme sponsored by Shell. The competition alternates through the different areas of the orchestra each year, with scholarships for brass musicians being the focus for 1999.
Outcome
The solution was to highlight the year and the fact that the brass section was the specialist area in question. French horns were used to form the ‘99’ in the year. The other brass instruments were also used throughout the promotional literature. The concept was extremely well received and was used for future years, starting with percussion scholarship competition in 2000.
